Hiya,
I know this is late, but I've been a bit busy elsewhere. :)
Does pulse_queue_enqueue() always allocate a new entry? What situation
are pulse entries reused?
You likely don't want to be allocating a new pulse entry via malloc()
for each pulse; it's going to be quite silly when you potentially

1.7.4.1
This adds a DFS pattern detector to ath9k. It is fed with pulse events
by the radar pulse detector and reports in place whether a pattern
was detected. On detection, the result is reported as radar event to
the DFS management component in the upper layer.
Currently the ETSI DFS domain is supported with detector lines for
the patterns defined by EN-301-893 v1.5.1. Support for FCC and JP
will be added gradually.
To include the pattern detector, ath9k must be built with support
for DFS certified config flag set (CONFIG_ATH9K_DFS_CERTIFIED).

Hi Adrian,
thanks for having a look.
No, if you look into dfs_pri_detector.c, you'll find some words on the
pulse and sequence pools (see DOC below).
Actually, ETSI pulses even have a PRF of up to 4000 pulses per second,
you'd go crazy allocating and freeing them continuously.
With the pools every instance is allocated once during a detector's
lifetime and is then provided to all pri_detectors commonly. The amount
of allocated memory grows up to the maximum simultaneously used
instances. This is limited by numerous means (sliding window, max
tolerated PRF, max pulses per window, etc.).
I did intensive memory allocation tracing when evaluating the detectors
in user-space with valgrind and the absolute maximum memory load in
worst-case (i.e. all DFS channels being flooded with pulse noise
superposed with radar patterns) had an instance count for pulses and
sequences of less than 1.5k, the maximum memory allocated does not
exceed 30kB. While that last number might differ based on the used slab
allocator, it is proven that the pool has a limited growth.
I planned to add some allocation statistics in the debugfs later.
Thanks,
Zefir

Follow updates in DFS pattern detector interface:
a) use given pulse event structure
b) adapt to boolean return value of add_pulse()
