Subject: linux-next: Tree for Jul 9

Hi all,

Changes since 20140708:

My fixes tree contains:
powerpc: Disable RELOCATABLE for COMPILE_TEST with PPC64

The net tree lost its build failure.

The net-next tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20140708.

The drm tree gained a conflict against the drm-intel-fixes tree.

The regulator tree lost its build failure.

The iommu tree lost its build failure.

The staging tree still had its build failure for which I disabled a driver.

The rd-docs tree gained a conflict against the trivial tree.

The akpm-current tree still had its build failure for which I applied a
patch.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4287
4000 files changed, 161994 insertions(+), 195983 deletions(-)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64 and a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm. After the final fixups (if any), it is also
built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and
allyesconfig (this fails its final link) and i386, sparc, sparc64 and arm
defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 222 trees (counting Linus' and 30 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Hi all,

Changes since 20140708:

My fixes tree contains:
powerpc: Disable RELOCATABLE for COMPILE_TEST with PPC64

The net tree lost its build failure.

The net-next tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20140708.

The drm tree gained a conflict against the drm-intel-fixes tree.

The regulator tree lost its build failure.

The iommu tree lost its build failure.

The staging tree still had its build failure for which I disabled a driver.

The rd-docs tree gained a conflict against the trivial tree.

The akpm-current tree still had its build failure for which I applied a
patch.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4287
4000 files changed, 161994 insertions(+), 195983 deletions(-)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64 and a
multi_v7_defconfig for arm. After the final fixups (if any), it is also
built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and
allyesconfig (this fails its final link) and i386, sparc, sparc64 and arm
defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 222 trees (counting Linus' and 30 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Hey Stephen,

A lot of your builds that are failing seem to build for me. Please try
a compiler toolchain
newer then gcc 4.6.3 to see if this is why your builds are failing.
Since all the arm builds
you have failing build for me.
Cheers Nick

Hey Nick,

Does your email client interface have a "Reply All" or "Reply to All" button
or selection that you can use? Please use that instead of Forwarding each message.
That will make it easier to read the email threading.

Thanks.

I suspect he may be using an e-mail client from a certain vendor in Redmond, WA.
It appears they have not heard that there is something like '>' to mark original
text in e-mail replies.

He used Reply one time and then reverted back to his old ways.

Nick, the idea is to use Reply all the time, not just one time.
That is, if you want to do things correctly and are not just wasting our time.

Very well then I just wnated the info for the conversation into my email.
Seems not a good idea to do on the list. Seems better to do it this way.

The mail thread is all here (just above here), so Reply does keep it,
it's just at the bottom of the email instead of at the top.
That's the way we prefer it, so please don't top-post your replies;
move the text cursor to the bottom of the email and then begin typing.

Thanks.

And always quoting everything is bad mail style too - just quote just
the relevant parts for the answer, not more, not less.
Everyone keeps the last mails from the thread around and they also can
be founds in public archives.

Here is my updated list of still failing builds. I am also this time
attaching warnings and errors
leading up to failing builds.
Cheers Nick

ARM - All succeed including 3 random configs I tried
Blackfin - BF561-ACVILON_defconfig Fails still, BlackStamp_defconfig
still fails , TCM-BF518_defconfig still failing
Cris - allmodconfig fails , allyesconfig fails
i386 - Succeeds randconfig with 3 different random builds
ia64 - Succeeds the build for defconfig
powerpc - Fails on first random build. powerpc_allyesconfig fails
s390 - all succeed
sh -rsk7203_defconfig fails , se7206_defconfig fails , allmodconfig fails
sparc -allmodconfig fails
i386-um - Builds defconfig
x86_64 - builds 3 rand configs I tested , seems fine to me

Here is my updated list of still failing tests. If I get to it in the
next few days I will me sending patches that I test that succeed in
building the failing builds to the maintainers. Further more I will
be sending the output of still failing builds as I did before. There
seem to be only 8 failing out of my tests , which was at 10 a day ago.
Good work guys on cleaning these up :)
Cheers Nick
P.S. There seems to be an issue with my compiler for cris.
Blackfin - BF561-ACVILON_defconfig Fails still , BlackStamp_defconfig
still fails
Powerpc - allyesconfig still failing , randconfig fails on first build
sh - rsk7203_defconfig still fails , se7206_defconfig fails,
allmodconfig fails , allyesconfig fails
