Does the new LinuxKernelConf configuration system by Roman Zippel apply to
2.4-based kernel trees, or only to 2.5-based kernel trees?
Also, are there any plans to merge it?

Theoretically it's no big problem, it needs a bit of manual work.

No, 2.6 is more important. Should there be huge demand for a backport,
it's not really a problem, but I doubt it will happen.
