Subject: LSI Logic FC HBA / mptscsih hang

I just got a LSI Logic LSI7102XP-LC Single 2Gb/s Fibre Channel HBA,
and installed it in a IBM x330 (Dual Pentium III). Booting the redhat
kernel-2.4.21-4.EL and kernel-2.4.21-9.0.1.EL works fine, but the
smp-versions of the same kernels (kernel-smp-2.4.21-4.EL and
kernel-smp-2.4.21-9.0.1.EL) hangs every time after:

I can send you update 2.05.16 mpt driver RPM's for redhat
in seperate email. Let me know if you can accept
17MB zip file. Or you can download 2.05.10-3 driver
that is available at:
http://www.lsilogic.com/downloads/selectDownload.do#a

Yes please, 17MB zip file by email should be OK.

I saw the same problem with this 2.05.16 mpt driver. Now I also tried
upgrading to both the kernel-smp-2.6.5-1.326.i686.rpm from
http://people.redhat.com/arjanv/, and plain 2.6.6-rc1 kernel, and
these are also hanging with the same error:

btw: I also seem unable to send BREAK-t (or other magic sysrq
commands) via the serial console after this hang.. Maybe sysrq hasn't
been enabled that early in the boot, or the kernel is hanging too
hard..?

I tried the same adapter in a Dell PowerEdge 2650 (dual Xeon), and
here it worked fine.

Can you send me full dmesg boot log for the failing
system. Also is the same cables and drives being used
between this system and the other one that is failing?
Is the Dell PowerEdge having onboard mpt scsi chip?

Attached (both working single-cpu boot, and hanging dual-cpu boot).

It doesn't need any cabling to fail.. It fails both with and without
cables attached.

No, I moved the adapter from the x330 to the Dell PowerEdge. Didn't
connect the cabling/storage when I booted this system.
