Subject: [PATCH v5 0/3] Add pinctrl support for S32 SoC family

Hello,

Here I want to introduce a new patch series, which aims to support IOMUX
functions provided by SIUL2 [System Integration Unit Lite2] on S32 SoCs,
such as S32G2. This series is originally from NXP's implementation on
nxp-auto-linux repo[1] and it will be required by upstream kernel for
supporting a variety of devices on S32 SoCs which need to config PINMUXs,
such as PHYs and MAC controllers.

I can't tell if these all are serious, but the amount of them is like a dozen.

I looked at it and some of the comments are pretty serious and need
addressing ASAP.

However it only affects this hardware so it's not like it's breaking the
world. I generally prefer in-tree development over too many big patch
iterations, it gets more focused.

I think if Chester can follow up with a patch or several addressing the
comments in the next week or two that's fine.

However if we get closer to -rc6 and nothing has happened I would
not be so happy and then I might just revert the driver patch.

They are developers who contribute codes and have Signed-off-bys in NXP's downstream
version. Since their implementations can still be seen in this upstream one, I
prefer to list them all. Indeed a part of them who also actively work with me on
upstreaming this driver can be listed as Co-developed-by, but the driver patch
has been merged into the maintainer's for-next so I would not change this part
unless the driver patch needs to be reverted and re-submitted in the end.

a bit messy. For example:

Sorry that I missed the case of PIN_CONFIG_BIAS_HIGH_IMPEDANCE:

As you can see that the pull function must be disabled as well in order to make
the pin floating.

We specifically provide those data types to separate generic things
with custom ones. I don't think about the code getting longer, the
access to the proper data seems reasonable to me. Look into other
drivers that utilise these data types.

I was wrong. Looks like the ARM64 arch Kconfig always select OF so it's not
really necessary to have OF here.

Since the OF dependency is not really necessary here, to fulfill the compile test
purpose, the possible dependency might be (ARCH_S32 || COMPILE_TEST), but it
could meet a compiling failure on the reference of pinconf_generic_parse_dt_config()
for those architectures which do not select OF by default since there's no stub
for this function. [pinconf_generic_parse_dt_config() is called in pinctrl-s32cc.c]

depend on COMPILE_TEST], selecting PINCTRL_S32G2 wouldn't work if it simply

Fix the dependency here, it should be:

So. your driver needs to select the proper module and since there is
no stub it probably needs to be added.
