Thanks for this release before the week-end. It's definitely a good one,
and I'm fairly certain that I won't be the only one building kernels this
week-end :-)
Best regards,
Willy

Nice! This is a good kernel!
Now we have a reference point, it is time to resync bug reports and try
to get some stuff in ;)

Mandrake Linux release 10.0 (Cooker) for i586
Linux 2.4.23-rc5-jam1 (gcc 3.3.1 (Mandrake Linux 9.2 3.3.1-4mdk))
Are you considering including libata support for 2.4.24? From my
testing with a number of different embedded sata chipsets (mostly ICH,
SI, and Promise) it appears very stable. I'm not seeing any data
corruption or lockups when running Cerberus with 2.4.23-rc5 + libata
patch. The only troubles I've had were with initialization of embedded
promise sata controllers. (I still need to test with Jeff's latest fixes
for this.)

There is no such thing as obsolete hardware.
Merely hardware that other people don't want.

I'm happy to include it in 2.4 when Jeff thinks its stable enough for a
stable series. ;)
