Hello,

I have tested various USB devices and all worked except the TL-WN823N.
This device has never worked and we have 2 of them.

On Ubuntu boot I get:
[ 1208.638541] usb 1-1: RTL8192EU rev B (SMIC) 2T2R, TX queues 3,
WiFi=1, BT=0, GPS=0, HI PA=0

[ 1209.735452] usbcore: registered new interface driver rtl8xxxu

When I attempt to connect at a 2,4GHz WPA3 SSID this is what I get:

On USB 2.0 port the problem with WPA2,3 SSID was resolved. Is it
possible to set a flag so that the driver will bail out if the device
is on a USB 1.1 port? The truth is that the maximum speed it reached
was way below the 12Mb of USB 1.1 so it should not have a problem but
in practise it does...

I believe the authentication failure is not related to USB 1.1. I get
that even with USB 2.0. It's probably intermittent, the best kind of
failure. Because of this and other problems, the standard advice on
various internet forums is "blacklist rtl8xxxu, install
Mange/rtl8192eu-linux-driver". I will look into it someday soon (ish).

So this problem is fixed now since kernels 4.14.308 4.19.276 5.4.235
5.10.173 5.15.99 6.1.16 6.2.3 6.3-rc1.

I'm curious about the low speed. How low is it? Do you see anything
in dmesg? Does this patch fix it?
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=302960

The driver can be modified to support USB 1.1 at least with some of the
chips, but I don't have USB 1.1 to test it.

Hello,

As low as it goes. This is a port for keyboard/mouse usage.

Nothing useful was seen in dmesg. Will make a kernel with your patch,
test it at the weekend and tell you how it goes. I have a PCI USB 1.1
