Subject: [PATCH v2 00/16] DTS for hi6220 and HiKey

This patchset include dts changes for hi6220 SoC and HiKey board. These
patches apply well one by one on top of next-20160401.

To avoid merge conflicts with patches already ack'ed by maintainers,
I picked all hi6220/hikey dts related patches into this single patchset.
And they passed the tests on HiKey.

Patch 1~3 are from hi6220 cpuidle support. It has been reviewed and
ack'ed in maillist.
[PATCH v2 RESEND 0/4] arm64: Hi6220: enable CPU idle states:
http://archive.arm.linux.org.uk/lurker/message/20160121.105346.7d3b0470.en.html

Patch 4~6 are for hi6220 gpio, pinctl and spi configurations respectively.

Patch 7 adds hi6220 i2c nodes, and
patch 8 enables them for hikey board usage.

Patch 9 adds add hi6220 usb node. It has been sent to maillist.
[PATCH] arm64: dts: add hi6220 usb node
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.devicetree/146062
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.devicetree/144335/focus=134022

Patch 10 and 11 are from hi6220 mailbox support. It has been reviewed and
ack'ed in maillist.
[PATCH v7 RESEND 0/4] mailbox: hisilicon: add Hi6220 mailbox driver
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/2152759/focus=2152768

Patch 12 adds pinctrl to uart ports in SoC and enables them for HiKey board.
Patch 13 adds gpio LEDs device nodes.

Patch 14 adds hi655x pmic dts node and regulator support.
[PATCH v8 5/5] arm64: dts: hisilicon: Add hi655x pmic dts node
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/2151688

Patch 15 adds dwmmc nodes description for hi6220. It refers to two LDO's
which are defined above.
Patch 16 adds wifi device node (TI's wl1835) for HiKey board.

v2:
- picked hi655x pmic dts node.
- removed dw_mmc resets property, as it is still under review.
- add 'non-removable' into dw_mmc2 for wifi

Subject: [PATCH v2 01/16] arm64: dts: Reserve memory regions for hi6220

From: Leo Yan <[email protected]>

On Hi6220, below memory regions in DDR have specific purpose:

0x05e0,0000 - 0x05ef,ffff: For MCU firmware using at runtime;
0x06df,f000 - 0x06df,ffff: For mailbox message data;
0x0740,f000 - 0x0740,ffff: For MCU firmware's section;
0x3e00,0000 - 0x3fff,ffff: For OP-TEE.

This patch reserves these memory regions in DT.

Subject: [PATCH v2 11/16] arm64: dts: add Hi6220's stub clock node

From: Leo Yan <[email protected]>

Enable SRAM node and stub clock node for Hi6220, which uses mailbox
channel 1 for CPU's frequency change.

Furthermore, add the CPU clock phandle in CPU's node and using
operating-points-v2 to register operating points. So can be used by
cpufreq-dt driver.

How can this work? You only give the apb_pclk for clocking the
bus to the timer.

Most platforms using this driver has something like this:

timer01: timer@10104000 {
compatible = "arm,sp804", "arm,primecell";
reg = <0x10104000 0x1000>;
interrupt-parent = <&intc_dc1176>;
interrupts = <0 8 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH>, <0 9
IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH>;
clocks = <&timclk>, <&timclk>, <&pclk>;
clock-names = "timer1", "timer2", "apb_pclk";
};

It then reads the two clocks in the beginning of clocks() to
determine the frequency of each timer.

By chance the code in the driver will allow just one clock and
will then assume that both the bus to the timer and the timer
itself is clocked from the same clock. But I highly doubt that this
is the case.

Please verify what clocks actually goes into this timer, it should
nominally be three of them.

I don't understand any stuff in this hikey-gpio.dtsi file.

What does all this mean?

If it has any practical use whatsoever then explain it in the
commit message, but right now it just looks like a big list
of placeholders with no use, but you can copy-paste them
into device nodes the day you need them?

If they are unused, just drop this file please.

This patch has been sent out for review previously [1]; So I refered
other platforms and changed to only enable apb bus clock due I have
not found timer enabling bits in Hi6220's spec.

Yes, it can work well even I don't enable any timer clock. I will
check furthermore in spec to see if can bind with formal way as your
suggestion.

You only need an ok to override a disabled status, so I think you can
drop this. Or disable by default and let boards override it if that
makes sense.

Don't use underscores in node names: user-led4

We need to make sure the node names and labels are aligned with other
boards. There's some discussion about this for the new db600 board.

This looks closer to what we should have than what we have for
db410c currently.

Do these go to LS connector? If so, add 'label = "LS-I2C0";' or LS-I2C1
as appropriate (based on LS connector numbering).

I believe 1 clock was allowed for early bindings, but yes it should be
3.

This is not about enabling/disabling the clock(s) to the timer.
It doesn't matter if these clocks are always on.

It is about determining the *frequency* of the timers.

It is vital that the timer driver get the right frequency of the clock
to the block from the clock implementation, and I do not think
it is the same as the "apb_pclk".

The thing is that of course "any frequency" will
work but what you will notice is that the timer runs very
weirdly compared to wall-clock time unless the right clock
yielding the right frequency has been specified here.

Thanks for reminding. Fortunately, apb_pclk and timer's clock are
same, all of them's rate are 19.2MHz.

Compared sp804 timer counter with wall-clock (which is using ARM's
arch timer), and confirmed that sp804 timer's counter register is
decreasing with rate 19.2MHz.

Also have checked Hi6220's spec, there have no timer's dediated clock
enabling bits. This is the reason before I only registered one clock.
So according to you and Rob's comments, how about change as below?

dual_timer0: timer@f8008000 {
compatible = "arm,sp804", "arm,primecell";
reg = <0x0 0xf8008000 0x0 0x1000>;
interrupts = <GIC_SPI 14 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH>,
<GIC_SPI 15 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH>;
clocks = <&ao_ctrl HI6220_TIMER0_PCLK>,
<&ao_ctrl HI6220_TIMER0_PCLK>,
<&ao_ctrl HI6220_TIMER0_PCLK>;
clock-names = "apb_pclk", "apb_pclk", "apb_pclk";
};

OK I was wrong, worrying about nothing.

This works for me, though I think only the last name
matters so I would name the first two "timer1" and "timer2".
