Subject: [PATCH v3 00/13] PCI: imx6: Clean up and add imx95 pci support

first 6 patches use drvdata: flags to simplify some switch-case code.
Improve maintaince and easy to read code.

Then add imx95 basic pci host function.

follow two patch do endpoint code clean up.
Then add imx95 basic endpont function.

Compared with v2, added EP function support and some fixes, please change
notes at each patches.

Subject: [PATCH v3 01/13] PCI: imx6: Simplify clock handling by using HAS_CLK_* bitmask

Refactors the clock handling logic in the imx6 PCI driver by adding
HAS_CLK_* bitmask define for drvdata::flags . Simplifies the code and makes
it more maintainable, as future additions of SOC support will only require
straightforward changes. The drvdata::flags and a bitmask ensures a cleaner
and more scalable switch-case structure for handling clocks.

From: Richard Zhu <[email protected]>

Add i.MX95 PCIe "fsl,imx95-pcie" compatible string.
Add "atu" and "serdes" to reg-names.

Notes:
Change from v2 to v3
- Remove krzy's ACK tag
- Add condition check for imx95, which required more reg-names then old
platform, so need Krzy review again,

Subject: [PATCH v3 11/13] PCI: imx6: Add epc_features in imx6_pcie_drvdata

The i.MX EP exhibits variations in epc_features among different EP
configurations. This introduces the addition of epc_features in
imx6_pcie_drvdata to accommodate these differences. It's important to note
that there are no functional changes in this commit; instead, it lays the
groundwork for supporting i.MX95 EP functions.

Is there any necessity to validate each clock in the driver? I mean, can't you
just rely on devicetree to provide enough clocks for the functioning of the PCIe
controller?

If you can rely on devicetree (everyone should in an ideal world), then you can
just use devm_clk_bulk_get_all() to get all available clocks for the SoC and
just enable/disable whatever is available.

This will greatly simplify the code.

Only downside of this approach is, if the devicetree is not supplying enough
clocks, then it will be difficult to find why PCIe is not working. But this also
means that the devicetree is screwed.

I have idea, how about add clk name array in drvdata.

such as
clk_names[] = {"bus", "aux", "axi", ...}
clk_cnt = 4.

Then use devm_clk_blk_get_all().

Code will be simplied and not too much depend on devicetree's validate.

Did you test this? It should fail because 'serdes' would need to be
added to snps,dw-pcie.yaml.

Is this really not a separate phy block? A separate node would be
ideal. If not, there's already a 'phy' name you can use here. We don't
want more random names.

Or just use the *_get_optional() variants of functions. They return NULL
such that subsequent calls are just NOPs if the resource is not present.
Of course, they aren't really optional on any given platform in this
case, but does that really matter.

There isn't an optional variant for phys, but it can be added.

A sufficient schema should prevent that... That's what they're for, not
just torturing people to learn json-schema. :)

I think it'd better use devm_clk_bulk_get() by passed down a clk name list
.clk_names = {"pcie_aux", ...},

So it will not silient when dts are not matched requirement. It is not
complex because only check once at probe.

I run "make dt_binding_check DT_SCHEMA_FILES=/pci/", no error report.
And PCIe function can work.

This is misc block, which included phy and also include some registers
about SID for each PCI devices. I plan do it later.

Chip reference manual call it as 'serdes'. If there are already similar
name, I can reuse it.

Did you test your DTS. The answer is, like Rob suspected: no, you did
not test it.

This fails.

Again, was it tested? Testing in this context means: bindings check pass
(dt_binding_check) and all your DTS pass, or at least do not introduce
any new warning.

Only because you have no example. What about your actual .dts?

Sounds like it should be a separate node and use the phy binding. Do it
correctly from the start, not later. Later is an ABI break.

What is SID?

I see. 95 is quite new. Still have not good base yet.
I may just take take care this session.

Actually, I considerred phy binding. The major problem is LUT (look up
table) for MSI and SMMU. LUT need be config according to some PCI device
information. I have not find good hook for that at PHY driver.

Stream ID, each device master have SID, which pass to IOMMU and GIC ITS.

dt-bindings: PCI: qcom: Specify reg-names explicitly

Instead of specifying the enum of possible reg-names, specify them
explicitly. This allows us to specify which chipsets need the "atu"
regions and which do not. Also it clearly describes which platforms
enumerate PCIe cores using the dbi region and which use parf region for
that.
